Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks traditional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Features
Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to numerous objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
